ChatGPT Space, Projects or Claude Cowork for Your Team?

If several people need to edit one document, start by assessing Space and Pages. For a continuing matter with its own conversations, files and instructions, consider Projects. For a task involving several file operations and finished deliverables, assess Claude Cowork. Your account and the location of the data also affect the choice.

Match the product to the work

Space replaces Library while Projects remain. A shared page can hold the result of work started elsewhere. Space documentation, Projects.

Cowork combines cloud execution with capabilities that depend on a connected desktop application. Local file and computer access need the appropriate environment. Check the accounts used in the trial before preparing the exercise. Cowork documentation.

Try a monthly sales report

Suppose a department receives a sales export, a returns file and account managers' comments. It needs reconciled figures and a short explanation of changes. This is a proposed evaluation scenario, with no assumed result.

Cowork can be assessed for working through copies of the files and producing a report. Projects can organise discussions about successive versions with instructions for the matter. Space and Pages can support shared editing of the commentary and open questions. Moving material between products may require manual work and a separate decision about data access.

Give each trial the same awkward cases: a return dated in the next month, an empty identifier and two currencies. Define the expected treatment before evaluating the output. The report should show which rows were included and where information is missing.

Compare accepted work

Measure the time from preparing the inputs to approving the report, including corrections. Record wrong figures, unsuccessful runs and access problems. Correct arithmetic is not enough if the manager then spends an hour finding its sources.

Ask a second person to repeat the task from the instructions. They should have access to the appropriate material and understand which period and data version the result covers. Sharing a summary can expose information to more people than can open its source.

If the workflow needs ERP writes or automatic extraction, assess that integration separately. Choosing an assistant does not implement identifier matching, connection recovery or business rules.

Budget for a useful trial

Include existing licences, preparation, review time and any implementation support. Let the initial participants complete the exercise before buying access for the whole business. Check current regional prices, usage limits and billing terms.
