OpenAI dots: What They Do and Availability in Poland

A dot can continue work between conversations, use connected applications and bring results back for review. Access in Poland depends on your ChatGPT plan.

OpenAI dots are persistent agents accessed through ChatGPT. A dot has its own cloud computer, uses applications you connect and keeps context between conversations. You can give it a task, return to other work and later review its output and any decisions it needs you to make.

As of 1 October 2026, dots are not yet available on individual Pro accounts in Poland. Business Premium has different eligibility rules. The distinction matters if you are choosing a plan for a Polish or EU business.

Availability in Poland and the EU

PlanOpenAI's published position
ChatGPT ProRollout excludes the EEA, Switzerland and the UK. Poland is in the EEA
ChatGPT Business PremiumAvailable across supported ChatGPT regions, which includes Poland
ChatGPT Enterprise, including Edu and HealthcareAn administrator must enable the beta; it starts disabled
Another planCheck the current eligibility list. Standard Business and Business Premium are different plans

Access is rolling out gradually and may take several days to reach an eligible account. These rules come from Getting started with your dot. Confirm access in your own account.

Buying Pro in Poland specifically for dots would therefore be premature. Check the plan and rollout notice first. In a company workspace, also check the administrator's settings. OpenAI's workspace management guide separates access to dots from permissions for computers and messaging channels.

What can a dot do on your behalf?

OpenAI's launch article describes a tester whose dot spotted an invoice that had not been sent, prepared it and sent it after approval.

It illustrates a useful division of work. An agent can connect information from correspondence and documents, notice an omission and prepare the next step. The owner checks whether the invoice is due, the amount is correct and the recipient should receive it.

Other examples in the announcement include preparing code changes for review and updating launch materials after a project changes scope. The benefit is having work ready to inspect. Its value depends on the source information and how much correction the output needs.

How the work happens

An agent follows a loop: read the goal and available context, choose a tool, inspect its result and decide what comes next. A tool might connect to an application, operate a browser or work with files. The application must support the operation and grant the necessary access.

OpenAI operates the dot's environment. Access to your own computer is optional and starts disabled. A dot can also initiate Codex tasks. Connecting a laptop does not make the service self-hosted.

Continuing an assigned task is different from browsing connected information proactively. OpenAI restricts the tools used for proactive research to reading: they cannot directly send messages, modify application content or control a browser or computer. Follow-up actions remain subject to action rules and checks described in the dots safety FAQ.

A useful first assignment

Here is our example brief for a purchasing pilot:

Compare the three quotes in the shared folder. Include net price, delivery, warranty and missing information. Cite the document and page for each figure. Draft questions for the suppliers. Stop before sending messages, buying anything or changing source files.

Review whether the quotes cover the same specification, whether delivery was included and whether warranty terms were interpreted correctly. A missing price should remain a missing price. A plausible estimate presented as a supplier quote makes the comparison unreliable.

Before scheduling recurring work, specify the readable folders, the destination for results and the person who handles exceptions. Require sources in the output. Where the integration supports it, also remove permission to send messages from a task that only needs to prepare drafts.

Cost and limits to understand

The first dot is included in an eligible Pro or Business Premium plan. That does not mean unlimited execution: plans include an allowance for deeper work, and tasks started in Codex or ChatGPT Work use those products' limits. Launch allowances may change. Check current plan terms before purchasing.

Memory deserves a separate review. Disconnecting an application stops new access but does not automatically erase information already retained in the dot's context. OpenAI describes separate deletion rules for files and ChatGPT memory. A company needs an exit process as well as an onboarding process.

Specialist dots for organisations were announced as focused enterprise pilots. They should not be mistaken for a generally available, self-service implementation for any ERP.

When to consider Hermes or OpenClaw

If you need control over the server, model and integrations, read our comparison of dots, Muse, Hermes and OpenClaw. Hermes and OpenClaw can run on client-controlled infrastructure. External models, messaging services or hosted browsers can still receive data.

Syntalith deploys personal operators based on Hermes or OpenClaw with selected tools, limited access and agreed approval points. A personal AI operator starts at €600 excluding VAT. This is an implementation starting price; model usage, hosting, additional integrations and maintenance depend on the scope. A free process scan helps determine whether a managed product is sufficient or a custom setup is useful.

Free process scan

Start with a free process scan.

  • A 30-minute call with the engineer who would lead the work.
  • A review of the processes that cost you the most time and money.
  • A written summary: a possible direction, missing information and the next step.

The scan chooses one process to assess, and within 2 business days you receive a recommendation, including when a simpler route is the better fit.
