Business automation calculator
Calculate whether this process is worth automating
In four steps, estimate the annual cost of repeatable work, simple payback and the most suitable system type: rules, automation, an application or an AI agent.
4 steps · your inputs · visible formula · published entry prices
How the result is calculated
Annual cost of the addressable work
- 01
Hours per week
The time your team spends on this process in a typical week.
- 02
Hourly cost
The fully loaded cost of the person or team running the process.
- 03
52 weeks
The number of weeks in a year, used to convert weekly cost to annual cost.
- 04
Addressable share
The percentage of the process you believe the system could take over.
The calculator multiplies these four values. It uses your inputs and Syntalith's published entry prices, without benchmark data from other companies.
The result shows the scale of the process. We validate the likely outcome after reviewing exceptions, integrations and human review time.
Modelled examples
Start with a process similar to yours
Load an example, inspect the result and replace the inputs with your own. Each scenario shows workload, process shape, system count and the point where a person approves the action.
Each example is a modelled scenario based on the assumptions shown. It is not a client result or a promise of savings.
Recommendation logic
From process cost to technical scope
The calculator runs three separate assessments. A high labour cost does not automatically produce a recommendation for the most elaborate system.
- 01
Process economics
The annual cost of the addressable work is compared with the published entry price for the relevant implementation type.
entry price ÷ addressable annual cost × 12 → payback months
- 02
Solution architecture
A fixed sequence points to automation. A dedicated team interface points to an application. Case-dependent steps may justify an agent.
fixed path / interface / dynamic steps → system type
- 03
Operating boundaries
The number of systems and exceptions affects complexity. Changing data or sending a message also requires human approval.
integrations + exceptions + permissions → complexity and control
The result is a starting point for a fixed quote
The free call covers your assumptions, systems and exceptions. Within 2 business days, you receive an initial recommendation and the information needed for further assessment.
Reading the result
Does the calculator provide a quote?
No. It models your inputs against published entry prices. A fixed quote follows only after the integrations, exceptions, permissions and acceptance measure have been defined. Why might the result start with process rules?
A custom build does not always pay back. If the addressable work costs less than the entry price, or most cases follow a different path, simplify and document the process first.Does payback include licences and maintenance?
No. Simple payback divides the entry price by the annual cost of the share entered by the user. A proposal later includes models, hosting, maintenance and human review time.Which processes require an agent?
Automation follows a path written in advance. An agent becomes a candidate when the next step depends on the case, its history and tool results. Consequential actions can still require a person's approval.
Check the result against the real process
Let’s discuss the assumptions, exceptions and data sources. Within 2 business days after the call, you receive an initial assessment and a proposed next step.
- A 30-minute call with the engineer who would lead the work.
- A review of the processes that cost you the most time and money.
- A written summary: a possible direction, missing information and the next step.
Times are shown in your own time zone. We work with clients across time zones.
The scan chooses one process to assess, and within 2 business days you receive a recommendation, including when a simpler route is the better fit.
