What did customers say in product research?

The product team remembers customers raising a problem, but cannot find their actual comments before the next roadmap discussion. What survives is a shorthand claim: “Everyone wants this feature.” An AI knowledge base can help the team return to the research and see what participants actually described.

Syntalith can connect selected customer research materials approved for this use to product-team questions through Company Brain. The proposed scope provides answers with links to interview passages or reviewed research summaries. A researcher helps assess whether the answer preserves the speaker’s context. Your team can review responses to questions from its own product meetings before deciding on wider use.

Did the customer need a feature or fail to find it?

Suppose a planning discussion turns to adding data export. Someone remembers an interview in which a customer said, “I couldn’t download the report.” Later in the conversation, the participant explained that they could not find the existing button. In a different interview, a customer needed a report containing data the current export did not include.

A useful answer separates these needs and links to the relevant passages. The team can discuss discoverability and missing data as two different problems. The assistant should not turn both comments into support for a single product proposal. Product owners still set priorities, drawing on other information as well.

It helps to see the research purpose and the participant’s circumstances alongside a passage, within the information the company is allowed to share. A comment from someone trying a feature for the first time has a different context from an account of routine work. Without that context, a compelling quote can support the wrong conclusion.

Finding comments does not measure prevalence

An answer may find several relevant passages, but their number does not establish how common the problem is across the customer base. The archive contains people invited to particular studies, whose questions and recruitment approaches may differ. If the team needs to assess prevalence, it needs evidence suited to that purpose.

A researcher should also help decide whether the assistant will use interviews, selected excerpts, or reviewed summaries only. More material does not necessarily make answers more useful. Unreviewed notes may contain the author’s shorthand, while recordings and transcripts may include information the product team does not need. Access should fit the agreed purpose.

While developing the application, it is useful to let employees flag a comment presented without essential context. The team can return to the source and improve how the material is shown. An absence of reports does not establish that every summary is accurate, so the initial review should use questions researchers understand well.

Check the tool that already holds the research

Dovetail documents research search and answer summaries based on relevant results. Availability depends on the plan. If your team already stores research there, it is worth trying these capabilities with your own questions first.

A separate application may be unnecessary if the existing repository offers usable search and links to context. A custom connection becomes more useful when approved materials are spread across systems and the team needs one place to ask questions. Before starting, agree which sources can be used together and who will help assess the answers.
