The same logger travels with different shipments

In this example, the device previously served another transport. Correctly assigning the alert requires knowing which shipment it accompanied at that time. The device's current assignment could point to the wrong recipient if the event concerns an earlier journey.

Staff should be able to open the reading with its time and unit and inspect the shipment link. A missing relationship needs clarification. A similar-looking route is insufficient to select a shipment. Any discussion with the carrier or warehouse needs a specific reference.

Your company supplies confirmed requirements for the transport and identifies who assesses deviations. The tool can show the relevant document beside the incident. It does not infer a universal temperature or allowable excursion duration from a product name. The reviewer receives material for their decision without searching several systems.

One incident may generate many messages

Repeated alerts for the same event can fill several inboxes. A useful workflow gathers them under the related shipment using agreed rules while preserving individual measurements. The coordinator sees who is investigating and whether the carrier has replied, without starting a separate conversation for every copy of a notification.

Grouping messages must not remove information about duration or gaps in measurement. Missing logger data is a different question from a recorded excursion. The reviewer needs to know what evidence is actually available. Organizing correspondence cannot fill a measurement gap.

When the carrier answers, the reply joins the same incident. The authorized person's decision and subsequent instruction remain available to the team. Closing the administrative task does not itself release the goods for use or confirm their quality.

Check the monitoring platform first

GS1's March 2023 EPCIS and CBV 2.0 guideline describes events connecting goods, time, location, and business context with sensor data. This represents information useful for tracing a shipment. The standard does not assess the suitability of particular goods.

If the monitoring platform already links the logger to the transport and supports investigation, configuration may be enough. Integration makes sense when alerts live in one tool, shipping documents in another, and follow-up stays in email. Check those capabilities against an actual event before commissioning another view.

Known identifiers and time-bounded device assignments can be handled with ordinary rules. AI may help summarize longer carrier correspondence with a link to the source. Measurement calculations and the team's decisions should not rely on a model's free-form interpretation.

Begin with one transport flow

An initial project can cover a selected shipment group and its loggers. Your company identifies the assignment source, confirmed requirements, and reviewers. Use an incident the team remembers when assessing the scope. Could the coordinator find the correct journey and send the quality reviewer the relevant material? Could the reviewer distinguish recorded measurements from a missing period? Those questions make the proposal concrete without prescribing how the goods should be treated.
