What Claude Duet is
Claude Duet is a new Anthropic app in which Claude works as a proactive agent. An ordinary chat waits until someone opens it and asks a question. Duet comes to the user first: each morning it sends a short brief, during the day it keeps track of connected apps, and it writes only when something needs a decision.
Anthropic describes it as a tool for professionals and small business owners with more on their plates than they can track. Duet runs on Claude Opus 5.5. It has its own cloud computer with a browser, so it keeps working when the laptop and the phone are off.
Duet carries over memory, skills and connected apps from the Claude account. The conversation runs in one thread, by text or voice. A quick reply and a weeklong project start in the same place.
What Claude Duet can do: brief, tasks and approvals
According to the product page, Duet takes on part of the daily work of running a business and returns the result for review as a document, a sheet or a deck.
- A morning brief from email, calendar and connected apps
- Draft email replies for approval
- Finding unpaid invoices and drafting reminders
- Preparing payroll for review
- Getting contracts ready to send and sign
- Briefs, decks, dashboards and financial forecasts
- Prototypes and simple web apps
The most important rule concerns decisions. Duet reads, drafts and prepares work on its own. Before it sends a message, makes a payment, signs a document or deletes anything, it shows exactly what it is about to do and waits for approval. It will not trade securities or move money between accounts even with approval. Any connected app can be disconnected.
Is Claude Duet available in Europe
Not yet. Since 21 October 2026, Duet has been a waitlisted research preview for Pro and Max subscribers in the US. Team and Enterprise plans are not included yet. Anthropic has not given a date for Europe.
Claude Pro
$20
A month billed monthly, $17 billed annually. Duet in research preview, US only, with a waitlist.
Claude Max
from $100
A month, with 5 or 20 times the usage of Pro. Duet in research preview, US only.
Claude Team and Enterprise
none
Duet is not available on business plans yet, in the US included.
For a European company, this means Duet shows where Anthropic's tools are heading, while work on company data still belongs in the Team and Enterprise plans and in agents built to order.
How much Claude Duet costs and how usage counts
During the research preview, Duet has no separate price. It is included in Pro and Max and shares the same limits as the rest of Claude.
| Item | How it works in the research preview |
|---|---|
| Price | Included in the Pro or Max plan |
| Limits | Shared with chat, Claude Code and the rest of the apps |
| Background checks | Count toward the plan's limits |
| Large tasks | A financial model or a deck uses more, because it takes many steps |
| Apps | iOS, Android and claude.ai in the browser |
A team that already hits limits on Pro should expect an agent working in the background to use them up faster.
Security and company data in Claude Duet
An agent that reads email and sends messages is constantly deciding where information goes. Anthropic describes several safeguards:
- 01Approval before actionMessages, payments, signatures and deletions wait for the user's approval.
- 02Passwords out of the agent's reachLogins follow the design of Claude Managed Agents, so Duet never directly sees passwords or sign-in tokens.
- 03A separate filter for sensitive dataIt rejects requests to share credit card numbers and government identification.
- 04Attack testingRed teams and an external firm penetration tested Duet, and it is covered by the public bug bounty program.
Anthropic also lists the limits plainly. Duet may misread a thread, misjudge what is urgent and miss something that arrives between check-ins. It cannot show its browser yet.
A European company has one more question: the rules. According to Eurostat (2025), 15.1% of people in the EU used generative AI tools for work. Before an agent gets access to the management team's inbox, the company should know which data it may read and to whom it may send it. GDPR obligations apply to the company whatever tool does the work.
What a European company can do today
Duet will take time to arrive. Most of what it promises can run now, in Claude Team or as a system built to order.
The team does not use Claude yet, or everyone uses it their own way
Claude rollout for the team: accounts, data rules, training, 3 to 5 tasks
from €1,150
The company already has Claude Team, but no rules or set-up projects
Workspace review in 1 day
€450
Email, invoices or payment reminders take hours every week
A system for one process, with a person approving the uncertain cases
from €3,000
A Claude rollout covers connectors to email, calendar and documents, projects for repetitive tasks and data rules. After 30 days we measure the time of the same tasks again. The tasks that measurement finds can then become a system that works in the background the way Duet does, in your own email and documents, under rules set in the contract.

How we count the payback of an agent on company email
Duet promises an inbox review and draft replies. We run the same count for your email in the free analysis: message volume, minutes per case, the hourly labour cost and the model bill.
€3,022
a month for a team spending 20 hours a week on the inbox
Payback: 1.2 mo.
Today our system at foap.com drafts a reply to every email that needs one (October 2026). The hours assigned to each firm size and checking in 15% of the old time are our assumptions. €34.90 an hour is the EU average hourly labour cost for 2025 according to Eurostat, for companies with 10 or more employees. We count the model at €9.87 per 1,000 emails (Claude Sonnet 5.5, 3,000 + 500 tokens per email, at the ECB rate of 1.1205 USD per euro on 22 October 2026), at 3 minutes of work per email.
