Claude Team vs Enterprise: Pricing and Features in 2026

Claude Team costs 20 USD per Standard seat per month billed annually (25 USD billed monthly) and 100 USD per Premium seat (125 USD billed monthly), for teams of 2 to 150 seats. Claude Enterprise costs 20 USD per person per month for access and adds usage at API rates, with no per-user limits. As of August 2026.

The difference is not really the seat price. Team sells a predictable bill with limits applied at the user level. Enterprise sells the absence of those limits plus stronger access governance, and you pay for whatever your people actually consume. Those are two different budget decisions, so calculate both before you commit to annual billing.

How much does Claude Team cost?

Team has two seat types and two billing modes. Billed annually, a Standard seat costs 20 USD per person per month and a Premium seat costs 100 USD. Billed monthly, the same seats cost 25 USD and 125 USD. The plan runs from 2 to 150 seats.

Each seat includes:

• Claude Code, the agentic tool for working inside a repository; how to introduce it across a team is covered in the Claude Code rollout guide,
• Claude Cowork, the agentic workspace inside the Claude app with role plugins, released in February 2026,
• SSO, so people sign in through your identity provider,
• connectors for Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, and GitHub,
• no model training on company data by default.

One more piece of context: Claude for Small Business, released on 13 May 2026, runs within Cowork at no extra charge. For comparison, the individual plans are Free with limits, Pro at 20 USD per month, and Max at 100 or 200 USD per month. If one person uses the tool, Team adds nothing.

How much does Claude Enterprise cost?

Enterprise costs 20 USD per person per month for access alone, and bills all usage at API rates. There are no limits tied to a user, so one person working hard does not stall mid-afternoon; they simply produce a larger token bill. Self-serve purchasing starts at 20 seats, and sales-assisted purchasing at 50.

Enterprise adds a governance layer Team does not have:

• SCIM, so accounts are created and revoked from your directory automatically,
• audit logs,
• a Compliance API,
• custom data retention policies,
• IP allowlisting,
• a HIPAA-ready offering.

To size the usage half of that bill you need API rates. As of August 2026 they are (USD per million tokens, input / output): Claude Fable 5 at 10 / 50, Claude Opus 5 at 5 / 25, Claude Sonnet 5 at a promotional 2 / 10 until 31 August 2026 and a standard 3 / 15 from 1 September 2026, and Claude Haiku 4.5 at 1 / 5. Team or Enterprise: how to decide

Two questions settle it: can you forecast volume, and does your security function require hard account governance?

• Choose Team when the team is anywhere from a handful to a hundred-odd people, work is spread fairly evenly, and you want the bill known in advance. Annual billing cuts the seat rate by 20% against monthly, so it pays off where headcount is stable.
• Choose Enterprise when user limits start blocking work, when a few people consume several times what everyone else does, or when you need SCIM, audit logs, a Compliance API, or your own retention policy. The plan earns its keep on uneven usage: part of the team barely touches the tool, part lives in it.
• Choose monthly Team billing when you are trialling the tool for a quarter and do not want a twelve-month commitment. You pay 5 USD more per Standard seat, which at ten people is 50 USD a month for flexibility.

Two notes on that formula. Output is usually several times more expensive than input, so long answers cost more than long source documents. And cache hits cost around 10% of the input rate, which changes the result substantially when the context repeats (the same policy, the same price list, the same instruction).

When a subscription is not enough

A subscription gives your team a tool and a chat window. It does not give you boundaries, integrations, escalation, or an audit trail. When the work has to happen inside a process rather than a conversation, you need an implementation:

• the system reads tickets from a shared inbox or a form,
• checks records in CRM, ERP, or a document store,
• applies rules agreed with the process owner,
• escalates exceptions to a person,
• leaves a trail you can measure quality against.

When not to buy the more expensive plan

• You work alone. Team starts at two seats and gives one person nothing beyond Pro at 20 USD per month.
• Nobody is hitting the limits. If your Team users never bounce off per-user limits, Enterprise adds usage cost without the benefit. Move when limits genuinely block work, or when security requires SCIM and audit logs.
• The process is unstable. If the rules change weekly, no plan fixes that, and an implementation fixes it even less. Gartner assessed in June 2025 that over 40% of agentic AI projects will be scrapped by the end of 2027, most often on unclear value and weak risk control. Describe the process first, automate it second.
• You cannot estimate volume. Start on Team with monthly billing, measure real usage for a quarter, then decide about Enterprise or an annual commitment.

Billing notes for buyers outside the US

Anthropic rates are quoted in USD, so your bill also depends on the exchange rate on the day your card is charged. Syntalith amounts are quoted net of VAT.
