ChatGPT or Claude training: choosing a programme for your team

One tool or a comparison workshop? Match training to company accounts, documents and tasks, using three exercises that support a practical decision.

If your company has already selected and approved ChatGPT, start by training people in that environment. The same applies to Claude: employees should practise in the tool they will return to afterwards. Comparing both is useful when the decision is still open or a particular team has needs its current workflow does not meet.

Syntalith trains teams in both ecosystems. We shape the programme around the materials, accounts and output the company needs. You can commission training in one tool or work through the same task sample in ChatGPT and Claude.

Choose the programme type

Company situationStarting pointResult to assess
ChatGPT is approved and the team is new to itChatGPT training on company tasksAn employee independently prepares and checks the output
Claude is available but working methods differA workshop agreeing how the team uses ClaudeRepeatable instructions and appropriate use of sources
The tool has not been chosenA short comparison before the full programmeA decision based on quality, time and required access
Tasks require work on files and in applicationsA separate agentic-work moduleEmployees control the scope, review changes and accept files
The team will write and change codeA programme for developersRepository changes pass review and required tests

The final case needs different preparation from office training. See rolling out Codex or Claude Code for teams.

What ChatGPT and Claude training should share

Participants need to describe a task, choose its source material, assess the output and recognise missing information. For a customer response, they should know where a date came from. For numerical analysis, they should check totals and the reporting period. These skills transfer between tools.

The programme also needs to reflect company data rules and available features. The purchased plan, administrator settings and permitted connections all belong in preparation. Watching a feature that participants cannot access does not let them practise the work.

Three comparison exercises

Compare two documents. Prepare two versions of a service description. One changes scope, another changes the date, and an attachment contains conflicting information. Ask participants to collect the differences with references to source passages. Assess omissions and the time needed to check the comparison.

Produce a spreadsheet report. Use a small export with a duplicate identifier and a clearly defined reporting period. Request a result for a manager. The participant should notice that joining tables may change row counts and check totals before drawing conclusions. Use data approved for the exercise.

Respond when a fact is missing. Provide a customer enquiry and a procedure, deliberately withholding the current order status. A useful output identifies the gap and prepares a question for the responsible person. Fluent prose containing an invented delivery date fails the task.

Give both tools the same material and comparable working time. Alternate the order between participants so the second attempt does not benefit solely from lessons learned on the first. Record corrections and tasks that could not be completed.

When to include ChatGPT Work or Claude Cowork

Agentic work is useful when a task spans several steps and should end with a file or a change in an application. ChatGPT Work can use files and approved apps; available access depends on the account and settings. ChatGPT documentation.

Claude Cowork also performs multi-step tasks. Local file access requires the appropriately connected desktop app. Availability and how tasks start are changing as a new interface rolls out. Claude documentation.

Practise permission scope, output locations and review of changes in this module. Editing text in chat and acting inside a company application need different controls. Our Cowork rollout guide covers an operational team's first implementation.

Planning time and cost

A proposed comparison module could take four hours: task and access preparation, two independent attempts, joint review and a written decision. This is a scheduling example to adapt to the group's experience. It does not cover every feature of both products.

Syntalith training starts at EUR 600 net per day; the programme and required access are scoped after a discussion. Exploring two products does not require buying two subscriptions for every employee immediately. Agree a comparison group and training accounts, then choose the wider programme. See training and licence costs.

The exercise should leave the company with a tool choice for named tasks, a list of limitations and instructions for the next independent attempt. Tell us what your team works on. We will propose ChatGPT training, Claude training or a comparison that helps make that decision.
